About me
I consider myself a rather well-rounded individual. My personal beliefs and morals have been sculpted by the experience of being born to two immigrant parents, who come from two very different cultures. The circumstances in which I was raised have led me to live life with the utmost open mind. I would also like to believe that some part of my creativity came from my upbringing as well. Multiple languages, different values, years and years of history, as a child you can’t help but be inspired by everything you are yet to know.
I’ve always been into the arts in some way or another. First I was a musical kid: piano, guitar, flute- all studied and practiced by the time I was in middle school. Then there was a period in which I wrote novels, but I don’t think I finished a single one. As that era ended I found myself being praised in art class which came as shock for someone who…sucked? But I guess one day in 7th grade I did wake up and suddenly have some strange technical talent in drawing. This later bloomed into a passion for painting that led me to where I am today.
I recall a conversation a coworker and I once had. They were an artist who wore inspiration on their sleeve. I mean you could see it on their face that they were a creator of some sort. I went on to tell them of my lack of motivation and feelings of artist block and their response lives on with me. They said “it” was like a bug in your ear, and us even discussing it had planted the “bug” in my ear. And they were right.
Ideas, creativity, inspiration- it all lives within us. When it is ready to find a way of expression you will feel that bug tapping in your ear, asking to be let out. And so you should then write that lyric, sketch that idea, play those notes.
It has always been with me and it will continue to be.

My name is Lisell De La Rosa, I am a sophomore studying at Maryland Institute College of Art in my hometown of Baltimore. My major is Graphic Design, however I still explore my roots of traditional art on the daily.
I spent 2021-2022 in Southern California studying at Laguna College of Art and Design. The year consisted of traveling up and down the coast and finding inspiration in the natural environment around me. I cherished my time in California, but ultimately decided to return to my hometown for the 2022-2023 school year.
As an artist, I pull inspiration from the mundane world around me, as well as the beauty I have found during my personal travels around the United States as well as Europe.
